Shift: Flexible AM and PM classes
Under direction, responsible for leading and instructing a variety of safe, fun, and effective group exercise classes with assigned groups; performs related work as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leads and instructs group exercise classes; corrects ineffective movements or those which may cause injury; demonstrates proper techniques; motivates participants; develops and varies class format based on course description and class membership; keeps abreast of the changes in the field of group exercise instruction and incorporates new ideas into routines; administers first aid, summoning for help when needed; carries out policies in dealing with specific groups; oversees the use of equipment and supplies.

Considerable knowledge of: The problems involved in the leadership of group exercise classes. Ability to: Perform continuous aerobic exercise the duration of the class; read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position; promote and organize group exercise classes; give individualized instruction to participants; enforce safety precautions and give first aid in the event of a mishap; establish and maintain good working relationships with participants, associates and the public.

Special Requirements:
Posession of leadership skills necessary to instruct group excercise classes: possession of a valid Group Exercise Instructor certification and CPR certification. Must become First Aid Certified upon employment.

Tools and Equipment Used:
Weights; exercise bands; step; and stereo system.

Physical Demands:
Position requires employee to: Continuously perform group exercise for the duration of the class; use legs while jumping, stepping, jogging in place, balance, move upper body including reaching and bending from knees and waist, talk and hear; frequently lift weights of up to 10 lbs; and occasionally sit, stoop, and kneel to perform exercises and stretch. Special vision requirements: Close, distance, peripheral, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
Position requires employee to: Work continuously in an inside environment with moderate noise. Employee may occasionally be required to change work hours.
