Recreation Leader Water Excercise Instructor If you are interested in

Responsible for leading and instructing a variety of safe, fun and effective water exercise classes with assigned groups; performs related work as required; may also provide personal training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leads and instructs water exercise classes; corrects ineffective movements or those which may cause injury; demonstrates proper techniques; motivates participants; develops and varies class format based on course description and class membership; keeps abreast of the changes in the field of water exercise instruction and incorporates new ideas into routines; administers first aide, summoning for help when needed; carries out policies in dealing with specific groups; oversees the use of equipment and supplies.

Considerable knowledge of the problems involved in the leadership of water exercise class. Ability to perform water exercise in or out of the pool for class demonstration. Promote and organize water exercise classes; give individualized instruction; enforce safety precautions and give first aid in the event of a mishap; establish and maintain good working relationships with participants, associated and the public.

Special Requirements:
Possession of leadership skills necessary to instruct water exercise classes. Must become CPR and First Aide certified upon employment.

Tools and Equipment Used:
Styrofoam dumbbells; belts; kick boards; and stereo system.

Physical Demands:
Position requires employee to: frequently perform water exercises for class demonstration; in or out of the water, frequently use legs to jump, step and jog in place; maintain balance; move upper body including reaching and bending from knees and waist; talk and hear. Special vision requirements: close, distance, peripheral, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
Position requires employee to: Continuously work in wet, humid conditions with moderate noise. Employee may occasionally be required to change work hours.
