Account Clerk - Tax Collection Part Time If you are interested in

Definition:
Under close supervision of the Tax Collector, performs routine, repetitive, noncomplex clerical accounting tasks involved in computing, classifying, verifying, and recording of cash receipts.

 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs basic clerical duties such as typing, filing, copying, and collating; performs routine arithmetic calculations; performs routine varied clerical tasks involved in keeping accounts of a simple, routine and repetitive nature; checks and compares for completeness various types of documents; opens mail and records tax payments; counts money collected and reconciles receipts; prints, stuffs into envelopes, and mails bills; provides the public with basic tax information of a noncomplex nature in person and over the phone; sells beach tags when necessary.

Peripheral Duties:
Knowledge of: Modern office methods, practices and equipment and of performing routine, repetitive and noncomplex tasks involved in the keeping of financial and/or other records of a mathematical nature; basic arithmetic functions.

 
Requirements:
Valid New Jersey State Driver's license, or ability to obtain one.

 
Special Requirements:
Ability to: Read, write, speak, understand or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position; understand, remember, and carry out oral and written directions; perform routine and repetitive tasks, compare numerical and verbal data and select appropriate information for forms; add, subtract, multiply, divide and find averages and percentages; apply arithmetic principles and correct computational errors; acquire an understanding of numerical record keeping and data gathering and other clerical procedures used in a specific establishment; perform work requiring constant and close attention to clerical and numerical detail.

 
Tools and Equipment Used:
Personal Computer, typewriter, calculator, copy machine, FAX machine, telephone, and printers.

 
Physical Demands:
Sitting for long periods of time; standing at counter for prolonged periods of time. Close vision computer work and ability to answer telephone calls.
