Under close supervision of the Municipal Court Administrator, performs responsible work involved in collecting fees for traffic and criminal violations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Receives and records payments for fines; verifies that the amount paid corresponds with the fine for the violation; enters data into a computer; types letters and forms; files traffic summonses; answers inquiries from the public in person and over the phone; opens and distributes mail; maintains files; performs other related duties as required; may attend court sessions; will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
Experience: One year of experience in record keeping or maintenance of records. Knowledge of: Modern office methods, practices and equipment.
Ability to: Perform tasks involved in the keeping of records; comprehend established office routines, rules, and regulations of a limited complexity; maintain essential records and files; add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals; learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units; read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.
Position requires employee to: continuously talk, hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and occasionally stand, walk, sit, and kneel or crouch.
Position requires employee to occasionally lift up to 10 lbs. and walk up and down steps in the Court Room. Specific vision requirements: close, peripheral and ability to adjust focus.
