Under supervision of the Recreation Program Coordinator, supervises and leads the activities for Fun & Fitness summer camp program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans, organizes, implements, and leads a variety of recreational activities in the areas of sports and games, swimming, and arts and crafts; supervises and leads the activities on special trips such as a children's theater production or Cape May County Zoo; reports to the Recreation Program Coordinator on activities, plans, and problems; recommends action, and carries out policies in dealing with specific groups; oversees the use of equipment and supplies; cleans up after activities.
Special training or experience in leading sports and games, swimming, and arts and crafts activities for children ages 3 to 9 years; personal skills in the leadership of several broad types of recreational activities.
Knowledge of: The problems involved in the leadership of several broad types of recreation activities
Ability to: Read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position; promote and organize recreation programs; give individualized instruction to participants; enforce safety precautions and give first aid in the event of a mishap; establish and maintain good working relationships with participants, associates, and the public; swim; obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
Position requires employee to: Continuously walk and talk or hear; frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms; and occasionally swim, stand, sit, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and smell, and lift up to 50 lbs. Special vision requirements: Close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Position requires employee to: Frequently work in wet humid conditions in locker room and pool area, and in outside weather conditions such as sun and heat; occasionally be exposed to the chemical bromine. Noise level is moderate to loud.
